Safety Q&A
1、Where should I place the generator during operation?
Always operate the generator outdoors only. Keep it at least 20 feet (6 m) away from doors, windows, and vents, and at least 5 feet (1.5 m) away from any combustible materials. Place it on a dry, stable surface under a protective cover or canopy to shield it from the weather.
2、What should I know before refueling a generator?
Always turn off the generator and let it cool down completely before refueling.
Use clean, fresh fuel of the recommended grade.
Never refuel while the generator is running or hot, as this may cause fire or explosion.
3、Where should I safely store a generator when not in use?
Store the generator in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated location. Make sure the air vents are not blocked and that it is kept away from any flammable materials.
4、How do I safely transport a generator?
Before transporting, turn off the unit, drain the fuel tank, and disconnect the spark plug. Keep the generator upright during transport, ensure ventilation openings are not blocked, and avoid exposure to heat or moisture.
Setup/Startup
1、How do I connect the generator battery? (For models with electric start)
When you first receive the generator, the negative battery cable is usually disconnected to prevent discharge during storage.
- Locate the negative cable near the top or rear of the battery.
- Attach the loose end of the negative cable to the negative terminal post of the battery and tighten securely with a bolt.
- ⚠ Caution: Avoid touching both the battery terminal and the generator frame with tools or metal objects at the same time to prevent short circuits.
2、What type of engine oil should I use?
Initial use (break-in period): SAE 30, 10W-30, or 5W-30 mineral oil is recommended.
After break-in: You may use either mineral oil or full synthetic oil.
High temperatures (above 95°F / 35°C): 10W-40 is recommended.
3、What type of gasoline should I use?
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher, and with ethanol content of no more than 10% (E10).
⚠ Tip: Lower ethanol content helps extend the life of the carburetor, fuel system, and seals.
4、How do I add fuel and check the oil for the first time?
Before the first startup, fill with the recommended engine oil.
Check the dipstick and ensure the oil level is within the marked range.
When adding oil or fuel, avoid spills, keep away from open flames, and use a dedicated oil/fuel container for safety.
5、How do I start the generator with recoil (pull) start? - Set the breaker and master control switch to OFF.
- Select the fuel type:
Gasoline: Open the gasoline valve → Turn the fuel selector to Gasoline.
Propane: Close the gasoline valve → Turn the fuel selector to Propane → Connect the propane tank and open the valve. - Switch the battery to ON (or “RUN” on some models).
- Pull the recoil cord: Pull slowly until resistance is felt, then pull sharply. Repeat if necessary until the engine starts
6、How do I use the electric start function?
Ensure the battery is properly connected and charged.
Set the fuel switch to the correct position.Turn the start switch to START.
Once the engine starts, release the switch and let it return to RUN/ON.
7、Does the generator need to warm up?
Yes. After starting, let the engine run idle for 1–3 minutes to allow the oil to circulate fully before applying a load.
8、How do I safely connect electrical loads?
Start the generator before connecting any appliances.
Connect higher-wattage devices first (e.g., refrigerator, air conditioner), then smaller devices.
Do not exceed the rated wattage capacity of the generator.
9、How do I start the generator in cold weather?
Use engine oil suitable for low temperatures (e.g., 5W-30).Place the generator in a warmer environment or use an engine block heater if available.Expect longer starting times in freezing conditions — this is normal.tent goes here.
Maintenance
1、How do I change the generator oil?
- Place the generator on a level surface.
- Locate the oil drain bolt at the bottom lip of the crankcase and place a container underneath.
- Use a 12mm wrench to remove the drain bolt and allow the oil to drain completely.
- Reinstall the bolt, remove the oil filler cap, and refill with oil until it reaches the thread level of the cap.
Tip: If the generator is on a flat surface, excess oil will naturally overflow before it is overfilled.
2、How do I drain fuel from the tank? - Turn the fuel valve to the OFF position.
- Place a container under the fuel 3. filter cup (below the valve).
- Remove the cup and turn the valve to ON to drain fuel completely.
Reinstall the fuel filter cup.
3、How should I prepare my generator for long-term storage?
Turn the circuit breaker OFF and run the generator for 3–5 minutes.
Switch the fuel valve to OFF and let the engine run until it shuts down.
Turn the engine/battery switch to OFF.
Drain remaining fuel from the tank and carburetor.
Remove the spark plug, add 2 tablespoons of 10W-30 oil into the cylinder, and pull the recoil starter a few times to lubricate.Reinstall the plug.
Disconnect and remove the battery, then maintain it with a trickle charger.
Store the generator in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated location.
4、How do I maintain the generator battery?
Generator batteries can lose charge within 3–6 months of storage.
Disconnect the battery when not in use.
Use a 12V SLA-compatible trickle charger to keep it charged.
Avoid exposing the battery to extreme heat or cold.
5、How often should I perform generator maintenance?
Before each use: Check fuel level, engine oil, and air filter. Every 50–100 hours of operation: Change engine oil, clean the spark plug, and service the air filter. Long-term storage: Drain fuel completely and store the generator properly.
6、Do I need to replace the air filter, and how often?
Yes. The air filter should be cleaned every 25 hours of use and replaced every 100–150 hours, or more often in dusty conditions.
7、When should I replace the spark plug?
Inspect the spark plug every 100 hours of operation. Replace it if it shows wear, buildup, or damage.
8、How do I prevent stale fuel from damaging the engine?
If the generator will not be used for more than 30 days, add a fuel stabilizer to fresh gasoline or drain the fuel system completely.
